One more win.
That's all the Wellesley Little League team needs to qualify for the regional Williamsport tournament in Bristol, CT with a chance to represent the Northeast region in the 2016 Little League World Series, thanks to a 1-0 win over Beverly on Saturday afternoon at Morrison Park in Westwood.
Jack Toomey's RBI-single in the top of the third inning proved to be all the scoring Wellesley would need to move on in a winner-moves-on showdown against the Little League team from Beverly.
Chris Kenney pitched 5-plus scoreless innings for Wellesley before Matt Lussier came in relief for the final three outs.
On Sunday, Wellesley will face a Pittsfield team that Wellesley defeated on Friday by the score of 12-1 (5 innings).
In 2012, Wellesley was in the same position and wound up winning the state title game and hopes to do so again on Sunday.
