The relationship between physician and patient is first and foremost, professional. However, there is something to be said for the benefits of forming a close bond with your doctor—not only for your own personal comfort, but also for enhancing your trust and faith in the care you receive. The team at Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates in Fairfield and Liberty Township, Ohio, understand that developing relationships is important to both their women’s health physicians and their patients. For that reason, they’d like to introduce you to OBGYN Dr. Lori J. Packard, who has been practicing with OBGYN Associates for almost a decade!

Dr. Packard’s dreams of becoming a doctor began at the age of 14, when her youngest brother was born with congenital emphysema—a condition which required surgery to remove part of his lung. Watching the team of doctors at the local children’s hospital working to treat him, she realized her calling to do the same for others one day.

Narrowing down her choice to the field of OBGYN services did not happen until her third year of medical school. Not only drawn to both the surgical aspects as well as the relative flexibility of the OBGYN lifestyle, Dr. Packard also felt a certain affinity for the patients in the field of women’s health—call it that inexplicable female bond!

Dr. Packard is extremely devoted and invested in all patients who come to her for care. She shares in their experiences, successes and sometimes, heartbreak. She recalls one particular experience that stands out from her time in residency. A woman she was caring for had a baby pass away just days after delivery due to a heart problem. Six years later, the woman sought out Dr. Packard as her OBGYN when she decided to try for another baby. Dr. Packard treated the woman through her pregnancy and helped deliver a healthy baby girl! Happy instances such as these are a perfect example of the joys that come from being an OBGYN physician.

Apart from her career as an OBGYN and women’s health specialist, Dr. Packard’s life revolves around her two sons and husband of 18 years. Together, they love traveling and lots of activity. Most recently, they returned from Guatemala, where they enjoyed zip-lining, riding with mules, and visiting with their World Vision-sponsored family.

While her spare time is limited, Dr. Packard makes it a point to stay active, and says running and strength training are among her favorite stress relievers.
