Leilani McAdams has been studying classical guitar at Musical Associates for nearly four years. At just 11 years old, she is about to host an Alzheimer’s benefit concert thanks to the music instruction of her teacher at Musical Associates, whom she calls “Mr. Kevin.” Leilani was able to learn to play guitar so well that people are coming from far and wide to hear her play at the benefit, along with several other artists that she handpicked.
Leilani chose to host this benefit, called “A Gift To Remember” after seeing her grandmother struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She and her family face challenges every day because of the disease. She decided to raise money and awareness of the disease by hosting this benefit. With more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s today, Leilani thought it was a worthy cause that would benefit more than just her grandmother but also many others. The ticket sales and donations from the event will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. Leilani hopes that one day there will be a cure.
Join Leilani McAdams, guitar student at Musical Associates, at her Alzheimer’s awareness benefit concert. In addition to live music, you’ll enjoy fall fair activities such as food, games, and more. The event will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2014 at Zekiah Farms in Waldorf, Maryland from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. For details, go to www.leilanilive.com.
