Transitioning from summer break to the school year can be tough on parents and kids, especially for preschool-aged children. A Brighter Rainbow Learning Center wants to make sure all of their young students are ready to take on the challenges of learning this school year!

In order to avoid the struggle and ease back into a daily routine, try these three helpful tips to prepare for the transition!

  • Re-establish a Routine: Use the last few weeks of summer break to start putting school routines into place. Enforce a bedtime, eat meals on a schedule, and have your child get dressed as soon as they wake up. One simple way to establish a similar routine is to plan morning activities outside of the house, which will get you and your child ready for the daily morning preparation.
  • Set up Homework Space: Establishing a time and place for schoolwork to be done eliminates any questions, and creates less opportunity for distraction. Choose a spot in your home before the school year begins and make sure it is prepared for your child every day!
  • Make Plans for After School: If you work full time and won’t be available when your child returns home from school, make sure to have child care plans arranged. If you have a nanny or hired babysitter, try having them come to the house a week or two before school begins to establish a relationship and make your child feel comfortable before the school year begins.

Make sure your child is prepared for early childhood education! The transition can be difficult for everyone, especially parents of first-time preschool students, but A Brighter Rainbow offers one of the best child development curriculums in the Billerica area!
