There are plenty of choices in hardwood, and each strain has its own natural look and appeal. Hickory, oak, and maple are particularly popular and beautiful.

Tile is available in an array of colors to suit most design schemes. There is, however, a decidedly retro look about most tile floors, a fact you should consider carefully before buying.

Cost

Prices will vary depending on the type of wood you choose. Exotic strains will obviously be costlier than more mainstream types.

Cost-wise, tiles are, generally, on par with more standard types of hardwood. Much depends on the tile material you select. Ceramic, porcelain, stone, and even glass tiles are available and are each priced differently.

Diversity

Hardwood floors are suitable for almost any room, but are less desirable in rooms with high moisture levels such as bathrooms.
