If you’ve been experiencing neck pain for more than 12 weeks, it could be a sign that the condition is chronic. At North Pole, AK’s North Pole Chiropractic, a team of highly experienced specialists in chiropractic health can help determine the sources of your discomfort and employ various ways to help you achieve pain relief.

Here are a few common chiropractic methods for treating neck pain:image

  • The Gonstead Technique: This technique is used to determine which areas of your neck need treatment. In order to do so, detailed on-site X-rays are taken and examined.
  • Cervical Mobilization: In this treatment method, the chiropractor moves the patient’s neck vertebra from side to side and in a figure-eight shape. The movement is not forceful and does not use any thrusting motion. It aims to help regain motion in restricted segments of the spine.
  • Cervical Manual Traction: This movement requires the patient to be lying face up, or alternatively, sitting. Then, the chiropractor pulls on the neck in order for the spine to be stretched. This is done in various angles to keep the patient comfortable.
  • Cervical Drop Techniques: Here, the patient lies on the stomach or on their side. Their head is then placed into a locked position in a “drop” section of the table. Using various degrees of force and speed, the chiropractor applies pressure to the problematic spinal segment until the drop portion of the table releases. This method aims to loosen any tightness in the vertebrae, therefore providing relief to neck pain.

Chiropractic techniques can be extremely effective for neck pain, but it is best to speak with the practitioner about all your symptoms before deciding on going the chiropractic route, as numbness and fever or vomiting can be signs of something more serious.
