Overwhelmed by official documents? Require notarized signatures, but don’t know how to obtain them? Unsure of what purpose the notary serves? The legal document preparation experts at We The People of NY are here to assist you.

A notary, or notary public, carries a legal “commission” to witness signatures and to place a physical notary seal on signed documents. It’s important to know that when a document is being notarized, it’s the signature that requires notarization, not the document itself. Most documents do not require a notarized signature, unless the need for one is explicitly stated, but a notary seal both authenticates a document’s signature and provides a type of legal protection. As such, notarized signatures have the potential to help save money and protect clients in court, if a situation ever arises.

In New York and need something notarized? A notary is not difficult to find! Most notaries have a standard legal or office day job, and offer notarizing services for an additional fee, or as an added bonus to their services. To become a notary in New York State, fill out this form and follow the online test preparation in anticipation of the state exam. Once a pass slip is issued, the Department of State and National Notary Association will contact the new notary with further information.

If a notary is required for any legal signature, please contact We The People of NY. In addition to notarizing documents, We The People of NY is proud to offer assistance for Divorces, Bankruptcy, Power of Attorney, Deeds, Name Changes, Wills, Health Care Proxies, and more.
