Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner Celebrates 50 Years of Mental Health Services
There are some members of the community who go above and beyond to help those in need. Fifty years ago, residents of Northern Kentucky in need of mental health services got the help they deserved when NorthKey Community Care opened their doors. This June, the community is coming together to recognize the difference NorthKey Community Care has made for countless of Kentucky residents and families they’ve assisted.
Since 1966, NorthKey Community Care has specialized in providing mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability services throughout its eight-county region in Northern Kentucky. In honor of their contribution to the wellbeing of the community, the Northern Kentucky Mental Health — Mental Retardation Regional Board, Inc. is celebrating NorthKey Community Care’s 50 years of service on Monday, June 13th at the 50th Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner at Drees Pavilion in Covington.
As part of the celebration, NorthKey Community Care will recognize three community members that were instrumental in the founding of NorthKey Community Care, and who helped bring the need for mental health services out of the darkness and into the light. In addition, the celebration will highlight how NorthKey Community Care’s treatment facilities have impacted the Northern Kentucky region over the past 50 years, and today.
Before opening NorthKey Community Care, there was a stigma surrounding mental health services. Today, that stigma is on the decline, in part because of NorthKey Community Care’s focus on aligning a highly trained staff with the individual needs of their clientele. Their team prides themselves on treating a wide array of behavioral health issues, intellectual & developmental disabilities, and substance abuse issues by providing individual and family counseling, therapy, and other services based upon the latest research and methodology.
