Skipping breakfast can effect your exercise performance, brain fuel and energy though the day for up to 9 hours and also lead to chronic imbalances.  So taking your time in the morning to make something to eat can really make a difference. If you skip breakfast, you are typically creating a time frame of 17 hours out of a 24 hour period without any nutrient intake. Not good.

Breakfast should be ideally eaten within the first 2 hours of waking, because it can make a difference how your metabolize glucose all day and lose weight. The time between dinner and the next morning’s meal is the longest your body does not get any food, so make sure you keep your insulin and glucose in balance by having a meal in the morning.

What you eat is important, so your breakfast should be healthy. No doughnuts, cup of coffee, sugary cereal and fruit juices. That is a recipe for disaster. Each breakfast should have some protein, complex carbs for energy and fat. Protein at breakfast is important because it is the most satisfying, helps to regulate your blood sugars and keep you full until lunchtime. Eggs are a great breakfast choice because they contain some of the highest-quality protein.

Breakfast also helps with weight loss. Research shows that people who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight. If you skip breakfast you are more likely to crave foods high in sugars, simple carbs and fatty snacks in the mid morning. Therefore your risk of diabetes increases. By eating breakfast you also improve cognitive function, because your glucose levels are restored and therefore your concentration and memory levels improve. Eating breakfast has been associated with a lower risk for heart disease in men. Also people who skip breakfast are unlikely to meet their daily requirement for some vitamins and minerals.

Eating breakfast is important especially for children, because they tend to perform better on the playground and have better solving skills and concentration. It is a good idea to establish good breakfast habits right from childhood.  Also children who are breakfast eaters tend to weigh less than children who skip breakfast.

Some of the healthy meals which we recommend include a veggie omelet with a side of sweet potatoes, protein shakes with blended veggies and fruit, Greek Yogurt with berries and granola, lentils with eggs and avocado, smoked salmon or 3 slices of beef bacon with steamed vegetables.
