As parents, sometimes it's more difficult to strategically teach important values than it is to find a way to make math fun. The Little Gym of The Upper East Side has come up with a few ways to teach your children gratitude this Thanksgiving, and all year long. Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to kick off a new year of giving with the whole family. Once they've learned these values, The Little Gym's kid's classes are the best place to practice!
Check out these four ways to instill gratitude this Thanksgiving:
- Show (and tell). Be as thankful and aware as you would like your children to be. That includes showing them gratitude and even being thankful for those pushy in-laws.
- Don't just hope they understand, really take the time to ask your children to come up with what they're thankful for in a given moment. Ask the right questions at Thanksgiving dinner, or whenever they're getting impatient.
- Help your children understand what it means to have food on the table. Not just by telling them what others do not have, but also by sharing what it takes to get food from the farm to the table. And let them help cook!
- Create a way to show gratitude all year long. It can be a journal, a thanks-giving area, or a gratitude tree to hang on the wall. Turn it into a project so it is something they can be proud of.
Teach your kids that their gratitude and the attitude they have can change the world. They'll be proud to try out their new knowledge at school, and at The Little Gym of The Upper East Side's kid's camps and birthday parties. When they see the positive response from their peers and the instructors at the kid's gym, they'll really understand what their gratitude means to others. The Little Gym's winter session starts January 20th, 2014,so go online and enroll today!
