Oahu's Edwin Y. Endo, OD & Associates offers the best eye care for miles around. The award-winning staff of highly qualified eye doctors is dedicated to ensuring your eyes are healthy and your vision is excellent. Other than getting regular checkups, eye examinations, and eye treatments when necessary, the optometrists also recommend doing regular eye exercises.

Similar to the importance of keeping your body fit, it’s also good to follow these exercises to keep your eyes healthy and minimize eye strain:

  1. Hold a pencil at arm’s length and gradually move it towards your nose. Follow the pencil with your eyes and repeat 10 times.
  2. Massage your eyes with a hot towel and a cold towel, alternating between the two. Lightly press on your eyebrows, closed eyelids, and cheeks. Remember to end on the cold towel.
  3. Close your eyes tightly for 3-5 seconds and open them for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 8 times.
  4. Roll your eyes clockwise and anti-clockwise blinking after each time. Repeat 5 times.
  5. Look at a wall in front of you and pretend to write on it with your eyes without moving your head. As you get more practiced with it, write bigger letters.
  6. Focus on an object faraway for 10-15 seconds and then re-focus on an object near you for another 10-15 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

Many people partake in eye exercises as a natural approach to vision correction and now you can too. Doing these eye exercises may improve your sight, but they are not the solution for bad vision. If your vision if significantly impaired, it is recommended that you not only do these exercises but wear glasses as well. To get an eye examination, visit Edwin Y.
