This month they'd like to introduce you to Dr. Smruti Patel, a skilled OBGYN physician at OBGYN Associates.

Dr. Patel received her Bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University, followed by medical school at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine. After completing her MD, she headed to Dearborn, Michigan, to complete her residency at Beaumont Health Oakwood Campus.

While Dr. Patel’s interests include preventive women’s health care and surgical aspects of gynecology, obstetrics holds a special place in her heart. She feels privileged to be a part of a family’s journey into growth, whether it begins through general obstetrics, preconception counseling, or infertility support. Of course, she particularly enjoys that it’s part of her job description to attend "birthday parties."

As the mother of one son, with another on the way, Dr. Patel offers empathy and perspective throughout her patients' pregnancies until the exhilarating birth. She describes the experience of being on the other side of the examination table as “humbling and eye-opening, to say the very least.” Now, she uses this perspective every day to cultivate a better understanding of how to care for and educate her OBGYN patients.

When she’s not at the women’s health center, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on weekend adventures, traveling the world without an itinerary, embarking on kitchen experiments, and snapping photos of her son. She is also secretly obsessed with the Marvel movies, and admits to once watching "Guardians of the Galaxy" three times in one weekend.
