Visiting Angels -Toms River, the Bay Head, New Jersey-based home care agency, has created two programs to increase road safety, not only for those seniors on the road, but for everyone. With eight out of 10 Americans taking road trips this summer, it makes sense to create a program that will make those trips safer!

In Toms River, Visiting Angels has created a program for caregivers to give seniors rides to and from family celebrations when their children or other relatives are unavailable. Visiting Angels has also created a “Senior Passenger Aboard” sticker that seniors can proudly put on their vehicle while riding with their caregiver or other family members this holiday.

"We created this sticker to raise awareness that seniors are more likely to be injured in traffic crashes due to age-related vulnerabilities," said Larry Meigs, Visiting Angels CEO. "Regardless of the driver, everyone on the road this holiday must be aware that even a minor accident for most could be potentially life threatening for the elderly."

And as far as day road trips to test out these new programs, look no further than Bay Head, New Jersey, home of Bay Head Beach and the How Street Jetty, both popular spots for summer ocean viewing and just miles from the Toms River facility. With more than 50 popular attractions in the immediate area, there will be plenty of chances to enjoy your time with your beloved elderly family member. Just remember, drive safe!
