On Wednesday, June 25th, Touro College Graduate School of Technology hosted an amazing one day institute! From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., attendees of this public event took part in an innovative Mobile App Design workshop. The intensive course offered “highlights” from a full semester of Touro’s highly regarded Interface Design Principles in a compact and easy-to-follow format. While not as rigorous or “technically demanding” as some of the graduate school’s other offerings, Interface Design Principles emphasizes several contemporary media platforms, serving as an “overview” of both practices and issues.
Over the course of the day, participants learned to “rapidly prototype and analyze design ideas for mobile media apps,” focusing on possible conceptual and production issues in equal measure. In addition, attendees learned about the general process involved in creating user-friendly apps and effective media content for the Web. The one-time-only workshop—which covered topics as far-ranging as non-linear media and responsive design—was taught by Touro College’s own Professor Andrew Deck, a specialist in the constantly evolving field of Interface Design. Approximately 24 eager participants arrived, ready to learn, and enjoyed an educational and fascinating workshop taught by an expert in the field.
As an added treat, and a thank-you for attending a new event, the group broke up at 12:30 p.m. for a delicious pizza break courtesy of Touro College. Seating was limited, but attendance was free!
