Day drinking, pancakes, eggs, and friends—is there anything better than brunch? We don’t think so, and Cincinnati has some killer brunch spots that deliver big in terms of food, atmosphere, and, of course, drink specials!
From elegant poached eggs with hollandaise to fried chicken and waffles, there’s no wrong way to brunch. Locals and visitors alike will appreciate our definitive guide to the best brunch in Cincinnati:
Red Feather Kitchen: When it comes to defining excellent brunch offerings, Red Feather Kitchen believes it's all in the details. This farm-to-table gem makes everything on their menu in house, and their dishes are the perfect marriage of classic brunch fare with a few unexpected touches tossed in. The Seafood Omelet, Breakfast Poutine, and Bruschetta (topped with a poached egg) are perfect for the breakfast enthusiast who wants something outside the standard eggs and bacon box. The classic Cheese Omelet, Quiche of the Day, and Eggs Benedict (with Marksbury farm ham) will please all the traditionalists out there.
The Rookwood Bar & Restaurant: If beer cheese bechamel, hangover-approved burgers, and on-trend soups, salads, and sides sounds like your idea of the perfect brunch menu, you’ll love Sunday brunch at The Rookwood Bar & Restaurant. It can get crowded quickly, so we recommend making a reservation. But once you’re seated, you’ll understand why people are flocking to this historical restaurant turned hipster haven. Their bar goes beyond bloody marys and mimosas and serves up an array of signature house cocktails. As for food, try the shrimp n' grits, lemon ricotta pancakes, or the grits & grillades (featuring 10-hour cooked veal short ribs). The craziest thing about brunch at The Rookwood Bar & Restaurant is probably the DJ, who you’ll find spinning everything from funk to gospel!
Echo Restaurant: For some reason Echo Restaurant is often overlooked by Cincinnati brunch enthusiasts, but it earned its spot on our list of Cincinnati's best brunch spots courtesy of heaping portions and affordable prices. We appreciate their $6 breakfast cocktails and massive combo platters that start at just $7.50. Echo Restaurant also serves up our favorite brunch platter in the entire city, which they’ve delightfully named the Hot Mess and includes layers of home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage all smothered in sausage gravy and cheese.
Allyn’s Cafe: Arguably the city’s best restaurant for cajun cuisine also happens to be an awesome brunch spot that, oddly enough, is one of the only places in the city to snag satisfying vegan brunch food! Most of their dishes are listed only once and can be ordered either regular or vegan, which means everyone can get what they want. If you’re of the vegan persuasion, we recommend the Cowboy Eggs; the vegan version comes with a savory tofu scramble, vegan sausage, and, of course, plenty of yummy Daiya! The vegan Brunch Burger is another favorite served alongside delicious hash browns. Meat lovers owe it to themselves to try the classic Huevos Rancheros or the unique New Orleans Eggs Benedict, which is similar to a classic Eggs Benedict but with the addition of crawfish and a buttered croissant.
