Stand Up NY has been making many changes this past year and looking forward to a great 2016. Continuing the trend, we are THRILLED to announce Stand Up NY’s new Booker, Luisa Díez! The owners are confident Luisa will do an amazing job of creating and upholding the brand Stand Up NY was designed to be.
A fan of stand-up comedy from childhood, Luisa began to frequent the city’s clubs and bar shows when she moved to New York in 2008. She swiftly became one of the most loyal and respected fans in the New York comedy scene and now splits her time between curating digital content for museums and booking and producing stand-up comedy. Luisa has produced showcases at comedy clubs and independent venues across New York City, most notably at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, where, in addition to guiding the overall comedy programming, she produces weekly shows featuring established visiting and resident comics, as well as the best up-and-coming talent in New York. Luisa has also worked as a consultant, talent scout, and talent coordinator, for several comedy festivals, most recently: the Limestone Comedy Festival, the New York Comedy Festival, and Just For Laughs Montreal.
As our new booker, Luisa plans to continue Stand Up NY’s long legacy as one of New York City’s top clubs by growing in-house talent and bringing the best comics to our stage and to our audiences, while working to draw bigger and better crowds than ever before. She hopes to foster an environment where comics feel valued and at home and where comedy fans want to be!
