As the weather begins to warm, plenty of drivers will be taking to the open roads to enjoy the spring sunshine. Being on the road can be a little scary at first if you’re not prepared, which is why the education experts from Sure-Drive Driver’s Training driving school in Edgewood, KY, have some tips for those new drivers out there:

  • Stay Aware: Whether you’re a totally new or you’ve had several driving lessons, it’s always important to stay alert behind the wheel. This means that you should avoiding talking and changing the radio while driving, and always keep your eyes on the road in front of you. It will also help if you minimize the amount of people you’re transporting in your vehicle until you feel more comfortable on the road.
  • Don’t Rush: It’s important to keep in mind that while you’re driving you aren’t in a race. Many driving schools teach the importance of defensive driving and driving conservatively. Don’t be in a rush to merge and change lanes every time you see an opportunity; such distracted driving can also cause accidents.driving lessons
  • Avoid Bad Weather: If you’re not used to driving in bad weather, try to avoid it altogether. If you are forced to drive in heavy rain, sleet, or snow, you should maintain a relatively low speed and keep your hands on the wheel at all times. Also, avoid making any sudden movements of the wheel.
  • Avoid Tired Driving: Are you feeling exhausted? Then it might not be a good idea to get behind the wheel. No matter how many driving school lessons you've attended, it's all useless knowledge if you fall asleep at the wheel. If you’re feeling worn out or notice yourself struggling to keep your eyes open, pull over immediately.
