Civil War Boston Sunday February 21, 2016 2:00 PM Main LIbrary Wakelin Room Barbara F. Berenson will discuss the history of Boston in the Civil War, with special emphasis on its role as the hub of abolitionism. Bostonians played a leading role in persuading President Abraham Lincoln to wage war against slavery, and the first black regiment recruited in the North was formed in Boston. Ms. Berenson is the author of Boston and the Civil War: Hub of the Second Revolution and Walking Tours of Civil War Boston: Hub of Abolitionism. Free and open to the public.
