Is there anything better than a sumptuous juicy burger? We don’t think so! It seems like practically every pub and eatery in Cincinnati has at least one burger on the menu, but not every burger is created equally. A mediocre burger is always a letdown, whether it’s smothered in too much sweet sauce or simply dry and flavorless, and with so many restaurants serving up the best burgers in Cincinnati, there’s no reason to settle!
In our eyes, the perfect burger should have a good bun to meat ratio, fresh topping choices, and a high-quality patty that’s expertly flavored and cooked. Our top three burger list includes restaurants that dole out everything from affordable classics to upscale burgers with unexpected proteins. The next time you’re craving a burger, stop by one of these spots and treat yourself to a burger that won’t let you down:
Zip’s Cafe: No respectable Cincinnati burger list would be complete without at least a mention of the legendary Zip’s Cafe. Known to all as the home of the Zipburger, Zip’s Cafe is a local institution for a reason. We recently stopped by to make sure their burgers were still on the up and up, and we were not disappointed. Zip’s Cafe is a master of the classic American burger, and the family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a model train that runs around the restaurant, is laid-back and fun.
Each patty at Zip’s Cafe is handmade with fresh ground beef, and with the classic quarter pounder cheeseburger starting at just $5.50, it’s an affordable choice as well. Do yourself a favor and get a side of cheese fries to go with your burger. As an added bonus, they also offer a delicious vegetarian black bean burger and a garden burger for just $6, so your veggie friends will love Zip’s Cafe just as much as you do!
Red Feather Kitchen: You might be surprised to see that this relatively upscale eatery made our best burger in Cincinnati list since they only serve one burger, but trust us, it’s a good one. From the perfectly toasted brioche bun to the candied bacon, red onion marmalade, and Boursin (a delicate creamy cheese that hails from Normandy), the burger is simply divine. It's served alongside hand-cut french fries, and even though it’s a pricier choice at $15, the quality of the food, the gorgeous ambiance, and the accommodating staff make it completely worth the price. Wine and dine at this upscale restaurant for one of the best burgers in Cincinnati.
Moerlein Lager House: We love Moerlein Lager House because they offer great brews, gorgeous views, and awesome burgers. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a stunning view of the Ohio River, and if you’re lucky, you might even see some of the Cincinnati Reds' fireworks!
Moerlein Lager House’s take on refined bar food is fresh and accessible, and all six of their burgers deliver in the flavor department. Our personal favorite is their Moer-Burger ($13) that comes topped with cheddar, pastrami, applewood bacon, sweet onion relish, black pepper mayo, and a fried egg. Moerlein Lager House also offers some of the best vegetarian options in Cincinnati, including their tasty Grilled Portobello Burger ($9), which comes topped with grilled red onions, roasted red peppers, butterkäse cheese, lettuce, tomato, and red chili aioli. The shareable appetizers are perfect for big groups, too.
