Perreault Spring & Equipment in Waterbury, CT. is always there for their customers! With the increased use of salt and salt pretreat used on todays roads, it is extremely important to inspect the U-bolts that attach your leaf springs to your axles. It has become very common for the U-bolts to rot where they enter the U-bolt plate on the bottom of your axles. Salt, sand and dirt accumulate there and will damage the integrity of both U-bolt and the U-bolt plate.
We stock plates and U-bolts for many makes and models of trucks, and are capable of bending U-bolts from 3/8 to 1” in diameter in a variety of shapes. When coming for U-bolts, it is important to either bring a sample of what needs to be made, or your own measurements, and we can return cold bent U-bolts in about five minutes.
When installing your U-bolts, be sure the center bolt was not damaged if your U-bolts broke or came loose, you will want to tighten the U-bolt legs in a criss cross manner, drawing equally on each leg to ensure uniform tightness. If you have a doubt if you tightened them enough, err on the side of tighter is better, after all they are what is holding everything in place. If you have any questions or would like us to check your U-bolts don’t hesitate to call or stop in.
When it is time to have your U-bolts replaced, call Perreault Spring & Equipment at (203) 753-2147 or visit their website for more information about all of the services they have to offer.
