The temperature has dipped and snow is flurrying outside of our windows.

Please remember the importance of making sure all of your Carbon Monoxide detectors are in working order!  Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless and tasteless so it is very difficult for people to detect.

If you have gas furnaces, stoves, fireplaces or clothes dryers in your home it is important to make sure they are properly maintained and inspected on an annual basis.

You should always make sure the exterior vents for your furnace and dryer are free and clear – you may want to put a marker on the outside of your home in the winter so you know where these vents are so you can keep them shoveled out.  (I use a piece of colored tape about 8 feet above my vents)

Also, make sure your dryer vent is free and clear of lint to prevent any blockage that may cause Carbon Monoxide build up or a fire.

Lastly, if you use a wood burning fire place make sure that you have it cleaned and inspected on a regular basis to make sure it is safe to use.

Have a safe and happy winter!
