Our Area

In the middle of the historic districts of Chelsea, Gramercy and Flatiron, our neighborhood has been called NoMad since at least 1999 with the designation of the Madison Square North Historic District. The center of New York life during the Gilded Age, Nomad is once again one of the city’s most exciting, balanced, multi-use 24/7 neighborhood.

Increasingly financial and insurance industry giants are being joined by a high concentration of architects, high tech companies and advertising agencies. Companies like Vera Wang, Tiffany’s, New York Life and Grey Group recognize the strengths of the area:

  • Unparalleled access to subway and bus lines.
  • Madison Square Park at the center of NoMad is one of the most beautiful historical parks in New York. In the spring, summer and fall the park becomes home to concerts (MadSqMusic), author readings (MadSqReads), site-specific art shows (MadSqArt), children’s events (MadSqKids), and food events (MadSqEats).
  • A neighborhood with history and character, featuring buildings beautifully designed and constructed of the finest materials.
  • Many new residential offerings (e.g., 250 Fifth Avenue, 15 Madison Square North and Sky House).
  • New restaurant alternatives nearly every day (e.g., SD26, Hurricane, John Dory’s Oyster Bar. Hill Country Barbeque and Chicken, Eleven Madison, Ben & Jack’s, ilili and Blue Smoke).
  • Exciting shopping enlivening street life (e.g., Marimekko, Eataly, Noir et Blanc, Opening Ceremony, Project No. 8 and Gracious Homes).
  • A growing number of trendy hotels (e.g., Ace, NoMad, Gershwin, Giraffe, Carlton, and Gansevoort Hotels).
  • Vibrant nightlife and gallery and museum scene (e.g., 230 Fifth, La Birreria, Jazz Standard, Gstaad, The Breslin Bar, The Museum of Sex and The Museum of Math).
