About Armstrong Amanda S PhD

For over 20 years, neuropsychologist Amanda Armstrong, Ph.D. has provided residents of Honolulu, HI with a unique form of therapy. By applying neurological research to psychotherapy, Dr. Armstrong seeks to teach patients techniques to better understand themselves by harnessing the brain’s natural ability to learn and reprogram.

Dr. Armstrong has dedicated her career to helping others. After completing her degree at the Columbia University School of Social Work, she earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hawaii. There, she specialized in neuropsychology, a field that would lead to positions at the Neuropsychology Service at Hawaii State Hospital, the Stroke Floor at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, and the Tripler Army Medical Center. She opened her private practice in 1994.

Dr. Armstrong practices therapy with a non-medicative philosophy, focusing more on psychotherapy to produce organic results. EEG biofeedback, the foundation of her practice, is designed to show patients the problematic brain functions that cause anxiety, stress, and negative behavior. By targeting this neurofeedback, she helps patients unlearn adverse habits in therapy and retrain positive function to create a natural remedy to their problems.

Her practice is dedicated to treating patients on a personal, compassionate level, and welcomes adults and children alike. Dr. Armstrong has designed a comfortable atmosphere where patients can learn about biofeedback and practice the techniques that encourage positive brain functions.
