Many of you are considering placing your home on the market after the Christmas and New Year holidays are over.
Having people over with all those lights and the family and friends was just a little more than you could handle! I get it!!
Just thought I would pack in a few hints to help you think about what you need to do if you have any extra time between now and when you begin putting away all those decorations!
1. If you don't need it, pack it or donate it now. De-clutter as you decorate and un-decorate! Great time to consider if you really like that tinsel you keep using or the figurine from Aunt Susie!! Your junk can be someone's new treasure! :) You may be keeping ornaments that are just plain worn out too! donate to a charity! Get in a giving spirit with everything! IF YOU REALLY DON'T LIKE IT MAKE IT SOMEONE'S TREASURE!
2.Label all boxes as you put them away. Mark where they will go in the future at a new home. (in your mind) or mark them giveaway and place in a Goodwill bin and get a donation receipt!).
3. As you are in the attic getting all that stuff down, check out what is still up there and go through it.
Mark and keep only what you know you will use and donate the rest.
Most everyone receiving this note has more than they can ever use, so try to count your blessings and see how you can add some joy to the life of a less fortunate soul at this very special time of year. You can do this and you will be so happy you did.
4. Try this way of de-cluttering! Get the whole family involved! As you get the kids to do some of their own discarding, make it a tradition to see who can come up with the neatest gift out of their closet to share with an orphan or homeless family through the Salvation Army or your favorite charity.
This could be the best thing you ever did for your children when they see how others can benefit from their little sacrifices!!
De-cluttering, a chore? NO, IT CAN TRULY BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE!! LET IT BECOME A FAMILY ADVENTURE!
