Afterward, he went on to complete a year-long Clinical Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic Surgery at the Institute of Facial Surgery in Salt Lake City, UT. During his fellowship alone, he completed over 400 successful facial aesthetic surgeries. As part of the Fellowship, Dr. Hiranaka published two clinical research articles related to facial aesthetic surgery, and has been practicing in Hawaii since 1994.

After completing his training, Dr. Hiranaka applied for and completed both written and oral examinations to become Board Certified by two major boards, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
