With the recent release of Spectre, the latest installment in the James Bond franchise, it’s time to talk about the collector cars the secret agent gets to drive. Over the decades, Bond has become synonymous with style, and this is undoubtedly true about the high-performance vehicles he drives. Because the people at Charlotte AutoFair, North Carolina’s largest and most extensive auto and antique car show, are such fans of both the secret agent himself and his vehicles, they’ve compiled a list of some of their favorite Bond rides.

So what are some of their favorite cars from these films? Let’s take a look:

  • Aston Martin DBS: Even though the Aston Martin DBS series itself only lasted five years, its peerless design was replicated by Vantage (and featured in Bond films) until 1989. The 1967 model is featured in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Royal Service, starring George Lazenby, and is in the opening sequence as well as car chases later in the film.
  • Ford Mustang Mach 1: This model didn’t need Bond to make it iconic, but it was in this film franchise that it was first featured on the screen. Tilly Masterson drove one in 1964’s Goldfinger, but it was a mind-bending car chase in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever that cemented its status as a Bond vehicle.
  • Toyota 2000 GT: Often called the first Japanese “supercar,” this was the perfect option for Bond-girl, Aki, to drive in You Only Live Twice, from 1967 because the film is set in Japan. Only 300 of these were ever made, and only two were convertibles like in the film.
  • Aston Martin DBS V12: More or less, from Goldfinger on, Aston Martin became basically Bond’s default maker. The V12 was featured prominently in the series reboot, 2006’s Casino Royale, as well as the subsequent Quantum of Solace. Matching style and substance, this vehicle is gorgeous inside and out.

Clearly, Bond’s been in the driver’s seat of some hot rides, which are certainly the kinds of vehicles that feature prominently at Charlotte AutoFair's car exhibit and trade shows.
