They recently received a lovely letter from Fran M., who hired a Visiting Angel caretaker to help her father, Frank. This is a portion of the letter Visiting Angels received from Fran:

Dear Visiting Angels,

I would like to tell you about our Visiting Angel home care aid, Jeannie Vidmar. We hired Jeannie in 2012 to help care for my 92-year-old, widowed dad, Frank, who was living alone in his home. Dad's vision was totally impaired…and this greatly impaired his ability to live independently. He was [also] hard of hearing and used a walker. At first, Jeannie was part-time, four hours daily; then, as his needs increased, so did her hours. She started at 7:30 a.m. and worked until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for over a year.

Jeannie, from day one, was so friendly, kind, hardworking, compassionate, and, most importantly, respectful of my dad. She did so much for us: made grocery lists with my dad…shopping…and daily cooking. If he could not locate the food on his plate, she would help him eat. She made sure he took his pills, did his wash, helped him dress, took out the garbage, did all the housekeeping jobs, made his bed each morning, and helped him with his shower….She did his daily PT exercises with him, [and] she made sure he safely got outside in the yard for fresh air and sunshine....She was a great cheerleader for my dad.

Jeannie has a gift in caring for the "total" person. As problems popped up, she evaluated the situation and helped [us] come up with solutions. My dad and our family were blessed to have Jeannie for our caregiver. My dad was able to live in his home at least two-and-a-half years longer because of her great care.
