Wood is a popular choice for home decor because it adds a warm, natural feel and its earthy tones go well with a variety of interior designs and styles. When cared for well, wood can last for ages. As a quality lumber and building supplier for larger projects like decks or kitchen cabinets, Huber Lumber Co in Cincinnati, OH will also supply lumber for smaller DIY home projects such as the following:

Creating an End Table: There are dozens of ways to do this, but one of the simplest is to cut and sand off two equal sized pieces of butcher block and assemble them into stacking layers using galvanized pipe.

Installing a Closet Shelf: Installing a shelf on a wall adds vertical storage, but shelves are also particularly useful in a tall closet. Measure the length needed for the shelves, then measure and cut a length of wood. After sanding and painting the shelf, measure the cleat height on the wall and locate studs, then nail or screw in cleats. Finally, lay the shelf in your closet!

Transfer a Photo: Make unique art by covering a slab of wood with gel medium, then place a paper picture on the slab, image side down. Smooth out any bubbles and let it dry overnight. Next, wet the surface and gently rub the paper residue off; the image should be transferred to the slab of wood. Seal with Mod Podge and let it dry.
