Expecting a child is an exciting event in one's life. For gay and lesbian couples, becoming pregnant can be a frustrating experience, though. Since 1985, the caring, dedicated infertility specialists at Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute has provided In vitro fertilization services to thousands of people who have been waiting and wanting to start a family.

Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute is committed to educating and helping future parents who are starting this journey. For lesbian couples to achieve pregnancy, there are a couple of options available. One treatment, called and IUI (intrauterine insemination) involves putting donor sperm inside the patient’s uterus. Another option is called Reciprocal IVF. Reciprocal IVF is where both women are used for reproduction (one partner would be the egg source, the other partner would be the gestational carrier). For male couples, the process of having a baby is a little more complex, and third party reproduction is needed. An egg from a female, who is called an “egg donor” is needed, as well as a uterus to carry the pregnancy, which is called the “gestational carrier” or “surrogate." In this scenario, the sperm from either one of the men or both can be used to create embryos, which are placed into a surrogate uterus.

IVF is a delicate, complex process, and the professionals at Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute have been successfully helping thousands of families for over 30 years.

Located in the heart of Honolulu, Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute is hard at work helping the community extend their families. To schedule an appointment or consultation, visit their website or call (808) 946-2226.
