If you are an aficionado of antique cars, then you cannot afford to miss the biannual car show hosted by Charlotte AutoFair Produced by Hornets Nest Region, AACA. The 150-acre automobile show attracts over 50,000 people to the grounds for the purposes of selling, buying and admiring antiques. With over 10,000 vendor spaces, the Charlotte AutoFair is a great event for showcasing cars, accessories, vintage car parts and more.

Many antique car owners can attest to the joy of working on their collector cars themselves. If you fall into this category, then there are tips that can make the challenging process simpler.

  • Pick the right setting. The weather and humidity levels are crucial in selecting the perfect day to paint. Always make sure your painting space is above 60 degrees, and that the humidity levels are low.
  • Dress appropriately. Your paint job getup may be perfect to ensure you are not spoiling your clothes, but you should also keep an eye out for materials that can impact your project. Clothing with fibers— say, wool —have a lot of flyways that settle onto paint.
  • Practice before you paint. You’re not a professional so don’t work on your precious car before practicing. If you do not have the funds to practice on a spare automobile, then work on plywood or a spare garage wall.

After you’re done with your paint job, head over to Charlotte for the next vintage auto show to show off your car and your painting skills.
