Known for their expertise in physical therapy treatment, the staff at StayFIT Physical Therapy LLC employs a number of different techniques to guide their patients toward developing and maintaining healthy, pain-free lives. Among their list of techniques is the Graston Technique, which enables physical therapists to better identify and address areas of the body where scar tissue and muscle restrictions present a problem.

As an instrument-based practice, the Graston Technique calls for the use of six different stainless steel instruments, all of which assist in identifying and resolving scar tissue build-up. During the treatment, physical therapists use these instruments to massage the skin and muscles, essentially separating and breaking down any muscle adhesions that are present. Aside from reducing scar tissue and the resulting discomfort, this practice also enables better blood flow and facilitates reflex changes.

Over the course of their treatment, which can last up to six weeks, patients receive two weekly Graston Technique procedures in combination with other physical therapy practices. In order to achieve the best results, this pain treatment is usually preceded by a warm-up and followed up with stretching and strengthening exercises. While the Graston Technique is not usually painful, it’s not uncommon for patients to experience some discomfort and bruising, which is normal during the healing process.

Trained and certified to administer the Graston Technique, the experts at StayFIT are happy to help you with your physical therapy needs.
