Eki Cyclery in Honolulu is excited to remind everyone that May is Bike Month, and it’s time to dust off your ride and show a little cycling pride! There are lots of ways to celebrate Bike Month, from participating in critical mass to going for a joyride with friends. For those who are looking for a little family fun meets biking celebration, the Bike Month Family Sunday at the Honolulu Museum of Arts is definitely the place to be!
Bring the whole family for an awesome day of inter-generational bike appreciation on May 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and get in the Bike Month spirit. Hosted in conjunction with the Hawaii Bicycling League, Bike Month Family Sunday is the perfect place to enjoy some quality family time. The crafty members of your clan will have a blast learning to make decorative bike-inspired prints, which can then be transformed into a mini-backpack using kid-approved folding and gluing techniques instead of a needle and thread!
There will also be loads of cycling activities for kids of all ages and experience levels. Absolute beginners can join the Balance bikes in Central Courtyard, where they will learn how to make the transition from training wheels to two wheelers. There will be six bikes available for use, as well as helpful bike instructors to teach your kids in a fun and safe environment. More experienced kiddos can hop on their bikes and head over to the bike rodeo for some well-supervised fun. They’ll learn bicycle handling techniques and safety tips before getting their shot at the cycle track.
Before you head over to the Honolulu Museum of Art for some major bike fun, stop by Eki Cyclery bike shop to make sure your wheels are fully pumped and your brakes are in good working order. You can also give them a call at (808) 847-2005 if you need any advice on bike repairs or maintenance!
