Diamond Head Plumbing typically gets called upon once something is already broken—that just comes with the territory when you've been providing plumbing repair and general home improvement services to the Honolulu area for over three decades. That being said, as experts in the field, Diamond Head Plumbing has a few bits of advice for identifying the right time to clean your drain:

  • If your drain is clogged. If this happens, then obviously you have no choice but to unclog it. There are a number of different do-it-yourself products available, however, too often these quick-fixes can cause significant long-term damage. If the clogging problem reoccurs, be sure to consult a plumber.
  • If your drain is gurgling. That awful gurgling sound typically is a result of a blocked vent or pipe—the kind that is designed to provide sewer gas a safe escape. This blockage isn't caused by something that went down your sink, but is instead typically caused by the pipes being blocked by dirt or debris on the other end. Gurgling noises can be much more serious than they seem, and will required a plumbing professional.
  • If you haven't cleaned your drain in a week. Yes, you read that right: it's advised you clean your drains once a week to ensure they're working optimally. That doesn't necessarily mean buying a bunch of expensive products or calling in a plumber, but what it does mean is quite simply pouring a quart of boiling hot water down your sink once a week, as this will help flush out and kill most damage-causing bacteria.

Of course, even the most cared-for drain breaks down. If you experience plumbing issues and are in need of assistance, call Diamond Head Plumbing at (808) 734-4344. They'll be prepared for any plumbing job and will provide the most reliable plumbing service possible.
