Few people fall down 41,600 times and get back up each and every time. Even fewer have a brain tumor and other recurring forms of cancer and yet live life with joy while the cancer lurks in the wings.  Still fewer can escape badly-bruised egos when Corporate America demotes them to a second-tier spot on TV after being front and center for a quarter of a century.

Yet, this is exactly what has happened to Scott Hamilton, the U.S. Olympic gold medalist who, before being replaced by Tara Lipinski and  Johnny Weir, was in NBC’s broadcast booth for over 25 years analyzing the jumps, twirls and spins of figure skaters vying for gold.  Not only this, but Hamilton, for the past 21 years, has faced Stage 4 testicular cancer and three brain tumors. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/18/sports/olympics/figure-skating-nbc-scott-hamilton-.html

Hamilton is an outstanding example of a person with #emotional intelligence, that sometimes elusive but essential quality which makes a technical and graceful star into a fantastic human being and role model for thousands, if not millions of people.
