Whether you’re a professional housekeeper or a homeowner with an appreciation for cleanliness, you know the value of having the best cleaning tools and supplies. A microfiber mop can make the cleaning process much faster, easier, and more thorough since it can pick up the most minute dust particles. But do you know how to wash them properly? Below, A-1 Vacuum & Janitorial Supply & Sewing Center, of Kalispell, MT, shares some tips that will help you keep your mops clean without wearing them out unnecessarily.

How to Wash Microfiber Mops

1. Handwashing

Handwashing is usually the best option when it comes to cleaning any fabric, and that’s definitely true of microfiber. Because handwashing is gentler than machine washing, it will help your mops and other microfiber cloths last longer. Use a mild detergent and agitate with a soft brush if necessary. Be careful to rinse all the detergent out.

2. Machine Washing

Machine washing works great for your mops too. When machine washing, make sure you keep your microfiber away from materials like cotton that leave behind lint. Your mop is likely to pick up what the other fabrics leave behind. This will clog it up and defeat the purpose of washing.

3. Fabric Softeners & Bleach  Do Not Use!

4. Drying

Air drying is the best option for your microfiber mop as it will help keep the fibers intact. It’s fairly convenient too, as microfiber dries quickly. If you must machine dry your cleaning tools, keep it on low heat or none at all.

5. Special Microfiber

There are specialty microfiber products for different uses. Please visit your local cleaning specialist to ensure which one will make your cleaning job easiest.
