Jamie Parrish was working in the yard in July when she picked up a pile of brush and noticed a sharp pop in her right elbow. When she tried using over-the-counter medication, it didn’t help relieve the stinging pain, it only worsened each day for three weeks!

This pain affected her job at Coryell Medical Clinic (CMC) where she works as a laboratory technician. “I knew I had to do something when one of our show heifers pinned my daughter against the wall and I could hardly lift my arm to help her! I was referred to Dr. Fowler, who recommended a steroid injection with the use of an ultrasound machine to help him inject the medication where the torn tendon and inflamed areas are. Even though I work at CMC I hadn’t heard of this technique, so I was a little nervous, but Dr. Fowler explained how the treatment works and what to expect. After the treatment, the pain diminished almost immediately and a week later, I was completely pain-free! I haven’t had any problems using my arm since the treatment and that was six months ago,” said Jamie. “I would recommend Dr. Fowler and ultrasound-guided injection therapy to anyone struggling with an injury.”

Ryan Fowler, MD, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with a specialty in Sports Medicine. He has significant training in ultrasound-guided injection therapy, prevention of illness and injury. He is also specialized in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. “Ultrasound guidance allows me to see inside the joint, including the nerves, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and cartilage to pinpoint the exact location of pain with precision. This helps increase the effectiveness of the treatment and allows for the use of a thinner, less painful needle,” said Dr. Fowler, primary care sports medicine specialist.
