Atmos clocks are beautiful collectibles that never need manual winding. However, they will not work unless they are properly leveled, so it’s essential to set them up carefully. To help you make the most of your timepiece, the clock repair experts at Tic Toc Shop in Mason, OH, offer a few leveling tips.

5 Tips for Leveling Atmos Clocks

1. Position on Even Surfaces

You may have already envisioned the perfect location for an Atmos clock in your home or business. However, this may not be the best place. The surface you choose to hold your timepiece has to be as even as possible. Tilted tables, display cases, and mantles won’t do. If you can’t find a perfectly level spot, you may have to put objects between the clock base and the surface below it.

2. Place in Low-Traffic Areas

atmos clockAtmos clocks do not operate well when they are disturbed. With this in mind, place the delicate timepiece in an area that doesn’t see a lot of foot traffic. Once the time is set, don’t move it. Heavy footsteps or vibrations can create an unbalance and cause the clock to stop working.

3. Use a Handheld Level

A small handheld level can tell you whether your clock is balanced. Just place the level at the top of the clock, near its front, and turn the front screws at the base of the timepiece until it is in the desired position.

4. Use the Bubble Level

Some Atmos clocks come with a built-in bubble leveling tool. To use it, put the timepiece in your desired location and turn the front screws on the inside to raise and lower the clock’s base. Keep turning the screws until the bubble is centered.

5. Use the Pendulum’s Centering Point

If there is no built-in level, your Atmos clock may include centering points. Once you have the unit in place, check for a centering point on the bottom of the pendulum. Then, look at the base of the clock for a marking or “cup.” Next, turn the front screws to move the base until the centering point is directly above the mark.
