The ASME B30 Main Committee has focused recently on a couple of areas.

crane inspectionThe ASME Council on Standards and Certification has been visiting college campuses and educating college students on the importance of standards and how they could apply to their future employment. For example, a group from the B30 Committee presented a demonstration of the ASME standards development process focusing on the use of B30 Standards in the construction industry at the Construction Engineering program at the University of Texas in Austin. Another area the ASME is interested in is assuring that the ASME standards reflect current and future technology. That could include crane inspections using Drones, or it may be remote or robot control of cranes.
