Living by the word of God is something you need to do every day. It’s not enough to just remember the words of the Bible, though, but to devote at least a few minutes each day to actively reading and thinking about God’s message. As a good Christian, daily Bible study should be an important part of your life. If you admit to falling out of the practice, though, you can always re-commit yourself as soon as today. Some people are even making it their New Year’s resolution for 2018.

Daily Renewal of Faith

Reading and studying the Bible every day gives you a chance to check in with God and re-commit to your faith. Doing this consistently will strengthen your relationship with God, as His direct words will remind you what it actually means to be a Christian. It’s easy to get distracted by superficial displays of faith or entangled in politics, but you should never forget that all you need to know has been written in the same book.

The Truth Will Set You Free

bible studyAs Jesus said in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The Word of God, as it is written in the Bible, is truth. But we are imperfect beings. We can be forgetful and lazy sometimes, and because of this, we may neglect to read the Good Book. The best way to deal with that is to treat daily Bible study the way you would going to work: as something that your health and livelihood depend on. When you can commit to it, you’ll be better able to absorb and internalize God’s truth.

Inspiration to Do Good

When the going is good, many people take life for granted and forget what they’re really here for. When times are rough, however, as it is for many people right now, it should be a reminder that we are not of this Earth. Our mission as Christians is to return to God, and, in the meantime, to do as much good as possible for our neighbors. Whether or not life is easy for you right now, daily Bible study is necessary because it reminds you of how important it is to help others and spread the Word of God.

A good way to make daily Bible study part of your life is to join a prayer group and study with others on a regular basis. Oak View Baptist Church in High Point, NC, hosts multiple study groups for adults and children, the schedules for which are available online. For questions, you can reach the church directly by calling (336) 841-6511.
