After you have been in an auto crash, it is not unusual to be contacted by a chiropractor who will offer to treat your neck and back injuries.  Many chiropractors do a good job of treating back, neck, and shoulder pain.  Sometimes people respond better to chiropractic treatment than to more conventional medical treatment.

That being said, you should not rush to seek treatment from a soliciting chiropractor.  As a general rule, people injured in auto crashes should first get treatment at the emergency room and then follow up with their primary care physician.  When you see your primary care physician, you may want to discuss if he or she would recommend that you see a chiropractor and, if so,  to make a recommendation.

Insurance companies generally do not value the opinions of chiropractors as much as they do the opinions from medical doctors or osteopathic physicians.  This is because a chiropractor's training is much less extensive than that of a medical doctor or an osteopathic physician.  Insurance companies also often scrutinize the bills of chiropractors and argue that they saw you too often or that their bills are too high.  Before you agree to treatment from a chiropractor who has contacted you, find our what the chiropractor will be charging you for the treatment and how he or she will be paid.

Whenever anyone contacts you “out of the blue” seeking to help you, you need to be careful, whether it be a chiropractor or an attorney.  If you have any questions about your potential claim, feel free to contact the attorneys at Miraldi & Barrett.
