When taking a vacation or leaving town for a few days, many people prefer to leave their beloved furry friends at a pet resort instead of stressing out their beloved animals with travel. Most pet boarding houses enforce good dog care by requesting the following vaccines.

Dog Care 101: What Vaccines Are Recommended Before Boarding Your Dog?

Bordatella

dog careThe Bordatella vaccine protects your dog from a communicable disease known as kennel cough. Caused by an airborne virus, this respiratory disease is commonly spread at kennels, groomers, and other places where multiple animals spend time. To prevent spreading, talk with your veterinarian about when your dog should be vaccinated. Please note that dogs who receive this vaccine are still susceptible to the disease.

Rabies

The rabies vaccine is typically part of routine vaccination programs for dogs. However, if your pet is behind or hasn’t received the treatment in a long time, vaccine must be given at least 24 hours before boarding. Rabies vaccines may be need more often in younger dogs, as your dog gets older vaccines are not need as often as they build up with the immune system.

DHPP

This protects from Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus, all of which are serious illnesses that may result in fatality or other major conditions.Checking with your veterinarian on how often your dog should be getting the vaccine is the best way to prevent illnesses.
