Technology and computer science is key in today’s fast-paced world. Each day, more innovative teaching tools are developed, and the popularity of educational applications for the home and classroom is booming. To shed light on the advancements in the technology industry, Touro College Graduate School of Technology (GST) hosted their Educational App Development workshop on February 18th. Dozens showed up to learn firsthand how to develop cutting-edge applications for desktop, mobile, and online applications, by using key platforms like iOS, Android, Mac, Windows and HTML 5.
Workshop attendees used GameSalad Creator software to develop
full-featured games based on essential concepts, current trends, and established best practices. The hands-on, practice-based training attendees received from Touro College Graduate School of Technology graduates enabled them to create a real-world project from start to finish.
However, the training provided in the workshop extended far beyond technical skills. Those present also learned the essentials of good game design. Novices and computer professionals alike left the workshop with a fully functional educational game, and the knowledge of how to market it. New York State certified
teachers also received a certificate for six paid training hours.
