On Saturday, October 21st,  2017, the Lorain Italian American Veterans Post #1 held a traditional Festa Italiana to celebrate Italian heritage and bring their community members together. Over 500 attendees this year were welcomed with live entertainment, fellowship, and traditional Italian fare. The post has served Lorain County veterans and their families for over 60 years.

Local insurance agent, Debbie Campana (pictured left), of Jenkins & Bevan, has been a member of the Italian American Veterans Post #1 for 14 years. Debbie joined because both her Father and Father-in-Law were Italian/Sicilian and served in the armed forces. Through their military service, she was granted membership and volunteers each fall to help organize the Festa, which raise funds for the Post.

Over the past 12 years, Debbie has been involved with various aspects of the Festa coordination. This year, she helped prepare various authentic Italian classics such as penne pasta and meatballs, and her grandmother’s personal pasta e fagioli recipe. Debbie loves using her family’s recipes to remind her of childhood and enjoys passing these traditions on to those in her community.

Debbie’s passion for helping those around her can be seen in many ways. Whether she’s creating mouth-watering Italian delicacies or her agency fitting you with the perfect car insurance tailored to your needs, her compassion and years of experience make a noticeable difference.
