Mornings can be stressful, especially if you have preschool-age children you have to get ready and off to school on time. From outfit obstacles to breakfast debacles, little ones have a way of making the AM hours an adventure every day. To have an easier time with early mornings, consider the helpful suggestions listed below.

3 Tips to Get Your Child Ready for Preschool in the Morning

1. Start the Night Before

Preparing for the morning the night before will help make everything a lot less hectic. Pick out their outfit, prepare their lunch, and pack their backpack if they carry one. This will reduce the number of tasks you have to complete before walking them out the door.

2. Get Enough Sleep

When your kids are getting enough sleep at night, they will be much easier to pry out of bed and maneuver through the morning routine. According to the National Sleep Foundation, children between the ages of three and five need at least 10 hours of sleep each night. When they don’t get enough hours, their mood, behavior, eating habits, and attention span can be impaired.

3. Create a Morning Plan

However, if you create a morning ritual that is easy for your young child to remember, the time will go by a whole lot smoother. Keep the routine simple and encourage them to learn each step and recite it to you. Also, if any of the steps are still struggle points, try adding an incentive. For instance, let them read a book or watch a cartoon episode if it gets them to eat breakfast at the same time.
