Residential water wells are a wonderful and reliable way to get fresh water to your home. However, if you’ve never lived on a property with a well, or just recently installed one after building a new home, you may not know what to expect when it comes to routine maintenance. Every system should have a periodic well and pump inspections to ensure its running correctly and to address small problems before they become big ones.

Werner Well & Pump Service LLC in New Milford, CT, wants to help you keep your well running smoothly year-round, here they explain some of what you can expect during well and pump inspections.

What Happens Before the Inspection

Well and Pump InspectionsLuckily, there’s not much you need to do to prepare the well itself for an inspection. However, you’ll want to compile as much information about the well as you can. This should help your inspector understand the age of the system, any previous issues the well may have had, and establish a baseline for the current inspection. If you recently installed a well, compile the appropriate documents your contractor gave you with the details of the installation and equipment used.

During the Inspection

During well and pump inspections, your water well specialist will test your system’s water pressure and output, checking to see if your home is getting an adequate amount of water daily. Then, they’ll inspect the pump and motor to ensure everything is working correctly. They should also check the condition of the pump wire.  The control box, water tank and gauges should also be checked.  If anything needs repair or isn’t working correctly, your water well technician will make recommendations for repairs immediately.

Well inspections should be performed once each year to keep your system running as efficiently as possible.
