Whether it’s for the sake of nostalgia or rarity, many people have an undeniable obsession with the classic muscle cars designed and produced in the USA since the 1960s. In fact, the desire to collect and restore vintage vehicles has transformed into a hobby that unites car enthusiasts throughout the world. Hornets Nest Region, AACA, in Mecklenburg County, NC, is the team that produces the Charlotte Auto Fair, a large and famous auto show featuring a large array of restored and detailed antique cars. The auto show experts are here to discuss a few of muscle cars you can see throughout their exhibition—and at events all over the world.

3 Most Popular Classic Muscle Cars

1. 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR

auto showThroughout the late ‘60s, Ford Mustangs were some of the most popular cars in America, with their simple and sleek styling. In April of 1968, the brand new 428 Cobra Jet engine was developed and installed into the Shelby GT500. The name was then changed to the Shelby GT500KR or “King of the Road.”

2. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

While it may not have been the fastest car on the track in the late ‘60s, it was certainly the most stylish. The 1969 model was redesigned to look sportier than its predecessors, with new door skins, rear quarter panels, and deeply inset headlights.

3. 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda

The first Plymouth launched in 1964. However, it took years before it became a success among muscle car enthusiasts. In 1971, a 7-liter Hemi block engine with 425 horsepower was introduced, which made the vehicle an instant success. However, only a few hundred were constructed, making this vehicle a rare and prized collectible.

If you’re into classic car restoration and collection, the Charlotte Auto Fair is the perfect opportunity to buy, sell, and learn about classic automobiles.
