For a car enthusiast, there’s nothing more exciting than being able to see the best collector cars up close and personal at an auto show. Car fanatics make their own sort of pilgrimage to Charlotte, NC, to visit the bi-annual Charlotte AutoFair, which attracts buyers, sellers, and admirers of the coolest vintage cars. As a result, it’s become the greatest collector car event in the Southeast. The organizers of the auto show consider the five vintage cars below as the most popular to grace their booths.

The 5 Most Favored Collector Cars

1. 1940s Ford Woodies

The wood siding was first developed in the 1930s but quickly stopped being made when the wood was deemed unsafe, and steel became more affordable. In general, Ford’s wood vehicles are popular collector cars at any auto show because only a couple thousand were made.

2. 1967 Chevy Camaro RS/SS

collector carsIf you’re looking for a muscle car, a Camaro is the quintessential one. The 1967 and 1969 versions are highly sought after because they’re rare. Only a small number of the RS (Rally Sport) and SS (Super Sport) models were manufactured. They were meant to be utilized as pace cars for the Indy 500.

3. 1955 Chevy Bel Air

This vehicle was considered the most popular car during the 1950s. It was believed to be well-engineered and more streamlined than previous designs. It’s also made countless cameos in films about that era.

4. 1968 Dodge Charger

If you’ve seen movies like Starsky and Hutch or Vanishing Point, then this Dodge will look familiar. Like the Chevy Bel Air, this car has been cast in a vast number of movies. Its film career makes it one of the most popular collector cars.

5. 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang

The Mustang is a classic American car and has become valuable due to the way in which it was first sold. The cars were released five months prior to their model year, hence the “1/2” in their model name.
