Many people have questions that they may or may not feel comfortable asking their funeral director. Here are some common questions:

Why is a funeral important?

  • Funerals help us acknowledge that someone we love has died
  • Funerals allow us to say goodbye
  • Funerals offer continuity and hope for living
  • Funerals provide a support system for us, friends, family members and the community
  • Funerals allow us to reflect on the meaning of life and death

What does a funeral director do?

  • Arrange transportation of the deceased
  • Prepare the remains
  • Submit paperwork and legal documents
  • Consult with the deceased’s family
  • Help in the funeral planning process
  • Provide aftercare, or grief assistance

What is the difference between a memorial service and a funeral service?

A funeral service is a service held to memorialize a deceased person with their body present. A memorial service is a service held to memorialize a deceased person without the body present. If a person has been cremated and a service is held with the cremated human remains present it is considered a memorial service.
