The carpet in your office goes through a lot of daily wear and abuse. From heavy traffic to spills, there are numerous ways carpet stains pop up, and, eventually, they can lend your workspace an unprofessional look. Fighting back against stains starts with being aware of the most common culprits Here, America’s Best Cleaning & Restoration Services shares three of the most common and a few tips on how to treat them.

3 Types of Office Carpet Stains

1. Coffee

Most offices can say their efficiency comes from organization, hard work, and, most importantly, coffee. Throughout the day, there can be hundreds of cups of joe consumed in an office space, so the risk of spills and drips is high. If your coffee winds up on the carpeting, dry it as much as you can immediately. Avoid drenching the area with water so as to not damage the carpet fibers.

2. Ink

It may seem like a lost cause when ink spills, but you can temper staining if you act quickly. Ink stains should be blotted with isopropyl alcohol from the outside of the stain to prevent it from spreading. Use a clean cloth to then remove the alcohol and ink. It may not remove 100% of the stain, but it will prevent spreading.

3. Party Mishaps

Company holiday or birthday parties can be a fun time with your co-workers that can be quickly interrupted by a spilled glass of wine. But there’s no need to get frenzied and stop the party to clean up. Use a towel and place pressure on the spot to absorb as much as possible. Then, cover it with a thin layer of soda water, and soak that as well. Repeat this process until the stain is mostly absorbed.
