In order for an optician to obtain the designation Master in Ophthalmic Optics, they must obtain an advanced certification from the American Board of Optometry (ABO) for one complete three-year cycle. They also have to either pass the ABO Master in Ophthalmic Optics exam or write two published ABO-approved Advanced Level III articles. At Cook Inlet Eyewear, they currently have three master opticians on their staff, and one of them is the only master contact lens technician in the entire state.
